If you’ve been following my journey on Substack or Instagram, you might have seen that I recently signed with Bella Management, a modelling agency in Sydney. Though I’ve been modelling on and off for the past decade in Paris, London and now Sydney and consider it more of a side-hustle, I always welcome new opportunities to collaborate with talented creatives across different fields. Creating stunning visuals like these truly takes a village and I love being a part of it. One of my latest projects is a new modelling campaign for Australian brand Tree of Life, and I am thrilled to share it with you here.
Before collaborating with them, I wasn’t familiar with the brand, but from the moment I slipped into their cosy knitwear, I felt an immediate connection. We shot their soft-to-the-touch chenille jumpers and the autumn/winter 2024 collection, featuring afghan coats and vibrant, flowing shawls. The vibe of some of these looks, combined with impeccable styling and gorgeous boho jewellery, made the entire photoshoot a truly exciting experience to be a part of.
I love spotlighting independent brands with a unique point of view, like Bibico, Liliana Guerreiro, and AmaElla on this website. Tree of Life has now earned a special place on my list of cool indie brands to know, here, in Australia. If you’re on the hunt for winter wardrobe inspiration or planning outfits for a winter wedding or event, check out our campaign below. Aside from the pieces I modelled, I’m also loving this mini dress and this midi skirt for example. Having seen their pieces up close, I can confidently say materials are of really high quality and everything is well-made.
As for the brand’s backstory, Tree of Life began in 1968 when founders John and Wendy Borthwick embarked on a hippie trail journey to India, which profoundly influenced their lives. Upon returning to Sydney, they joined a handcrafts collective, selling bohemian items. In the early 90s, they opened the first Tree of Life store in Sydney’s Balmain, championing free-spirited, inclusive values. Today, the brand stands as a beacon of bohemian fashion, celebrating creativity and freedom. Despite John’s passing in 2022, Wendy continues to honour their legacy, nurturing the brand’s roots and global artisan connections.
You can find out more about it on the Tree of Life website.
